Welcome to the first conversation of this TRE series with Jonah Robins from Los Angeles, USA.
We had such a good chat, and Jonah and I really resonated on a few ideas, especially the fact that TRE is so capable when it comes to helping people bring their nervous system back down into a deep state of rest which for many people hasn’t happened for years, perhaps decades.
Jonah doesn’t hold back and shares with us some of the personal details of his journey to release himself from the grip of anxiety, and his path back to presence.
Jonah is a TRE provider himself, so please get hold of him and take advantage of his super comfortable and grounded nature – especially for someone so young, he’s only 26 but so wise already.
Jonah’s journey into healing himself began before he found TRE through his father, and he engaged with tools like the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). HE remembers getting home and not ever being able to switch off the anxiety in his system, something we can all resonate with on some level. Our conversation is not to be missed, some of what we got into is:
- His memory of the first tremor when he felt a sense of calm that he hadn’t felt in a long time.
- He was committed to a daily tremor ritual from the beginning and started to feel a sense of calm he hadn’t felt in his body for as long as he could remember.
- A short while after he joined a 10-day seminar with Dr David Bercilli – which was completely transformative.
- We share I perspective on the ability of TRE to bring calm immediately, to body and mind.
- Jonah explains that lower back pain was a big part of his motivation to find answers, which is actually such a common experience. And so many physical or psychological tools didn’t provide
- His experience with being stuck in freeze himself, and his client’s similar experience, drove to explore body-based techniques because the cognitive approaches didn’t seem to create much change.
- We look at the difference between fight (fear moving towards), flight (fear moving away), and freeze (nowhere to go, checkout). Jonah explains how childhood trauma can start to develop a tendency to freeze.
- “Time heals, but it also doesn’t”, our bodies can find it very difficult to let go of traumatic memories, and just because we hide them from our consciousness doesn’t at all mean that they are not persistently running in the background.
- “You never know how stuck you’ve been until you’ve been set free.”
- Jonah shares that he has been a long term meditator, but how before TRE the present moment experience was only accessible to him in his sitting practice, but afterwards he found he was finding presence throughout the day.
- Where his practice has been, and the work he has been able to do with Dr Bercelli over the past few years.
- Jonah’s experience of healing incredibly young experiences, experiences he would never have thought would have affected him.
- Craig and Jonah share their first-hand experience of the unity of mind and body.
- A story of Jonah and a client who experienced a release into greater self-expression from a release of physical tension in her hip and pelvic area.
- Jonah explains how he describes the TRE process to someone looking to know more, someone who doesn’t know much yet.
- A story of Jonah’s friend that was struggling to refrain from cannabis and alcohol, and after being shown how to tremor he did it every day for two weeks and hadn’t felt the need to smoke or drink again.
- Jonah throws a few questions at me,
- asking me how I feel TRE may be of value to men and in particular young men.
- how TRE leads to people feeling safer and more able to be authentic
